Happy Halloween

I am at work in my pajamas today. This is cool. It's my costume - a slumber party participant. I've got my slippers on and I brought SmallBoy's teddy bear. I vote for Halloween dress up at work everyday! SmallBoy is going as Darth Vader (complete with the voice changer helmet that he got for Christmas last year), Girl still hasn't made up her mind and LargeBoy - well, he and a bunch of friends are going as each other. Cute, huh? Sitting on my desk is a giant bowl of candy. Bad. But wait - not five feet from my desk is a basket of chocolate - no wait, there's more - one of our students brought donuts, and one of my colleagues brought cupcakes! No time to work out tonight, since trick-trick-or-treating starts at 3, and I'm not out of here til 4:30. No time tomorrow since I have to sing at church at 7- YIKES!!!

On this Monday, I'd like to introduce you all to Sullen Bunny. She is brand new to the blogging world and has recently had her 6 y/o diagnosed with AS. She is in need of some major support. I know we're all tremendously capable of that. Please stop by and say hi. She's got some serious "Autism Sucks" going on and could use our "ears". In the meantime, have a great Halloween, Dia de los Muertos (is that correct?) or whatever you chose to celebrate. This evening I will be busy gobbling up - I mean checking my children's candy for safety.

I'm going as a writer - which means I'm in my pajamas, too!

Mstr A was a wizard (we had a party yesterday), with a cloak & hat. It was a real breakthrough for him as only 6 months ago when a friend had a fancy dress birthday party he got really upset at the idea of dressing up. I think he was worried that we were going to make him BE whatever he dressed up as forever more. Is the incomprehension of imagination an AS thing, or is it just mstr A? It's shown up a number of times now.

Anyway, happy Halloween, and remember chocolate is a good thing on special pccasions:-)

Oh Mrs A, then everyday is a special occasion. Hello extra pounds. Go directly to hips, thighs, and derriere, do not pass go!

The imagination thing, at least in my experience, has had a link to the AS. It seems to go hand in hand with the pragmatic language - how everything is terribly literal to them, sarcasm and jokes need major explaining. Our Aspie's have an imagination, but it's THEIRS. OUR imagination is a totally foreign concept to them.

Bunny - oh we wore out the batteries Christmas morning. We had so much fun with that thing. PC - my husband - is going tomorrow to get the movie and the new video game (yeah, it's bad - we're Star Wars geeks).

Oh good, I'm glasd it's all the same thing. Poor Mstr A try's sooo hard to "get" joke. Mr A has been telling him them since he was about two. He's now got to the stage where he just learns them verbatum & repeats them back to daddy laughimg madly, but he has absolutrly no idea what is funny about a pun/play on words. He doesn't even understand Knock Knock jokes, & advertising is completely beyond him - we just say "it's an advert, it's not real".

Went to see sullen bunny - she made me cry:-( Just spent a particularly unpleasant day with my mother, so glad to home with all my blogfriends again.

I've linked to you from my blog BTW. thought it was about time.

Thanks for visiting Bunny. She'll be fine with all of us to lean on. I was right there too, as, I'm sure were all of us - and we visit that place very often. I'm glad we could bring another mom in to support. Sorry you had a rough day with your mother. Here's a knock knock joke just for you - (the best part about this joke is that I was peeing in my pants laughing so hard because my NT's took a good 5 minutes to get this and they TOTALLY should have gotten it right away):

Knock Knock...
Who's there?
Smellmop...

E-
That was the best part - that my 9 y/o aspie got it, but my two teenagers didn't! I swear I thought I was going to wet myself laughing. There are other variations of that too...such as "steppinmop", "cleanupmop"...we just go on for hours with this. It's bad, but it's funny. And, being bathroom humor, SmallBoy gets the joke (like I should encourage bathroom humor - real smart mom ;-) )
